Bill -- thanks for the class info. It's great and it does relate really well to the topic of the meetup. I actually wish there was more discussion of blended learning (that was the question I wanted to ask the presenters), because we really can't pretend that online education can take care of all the education needs without some sort of offline, experiential component. I would like to hear more about attempts to pair online learning with offline activities, what works and what doesn't, what experiences people have had taking or teaching such courses, and what platforms or online tools allow for more effective blending.

Could you post all the twitter handles and email address that was on the whiteboard that night? Thanks!

    Great meetup.
I found this great free Coursera course on Blended Learning (actually everything re. EdTech and related topics). Please pass it to the group. It relates really well to the topic of the last meetup and I feel that it would really help many of the attendees better understand what is happening in that space right now.

There's always a take away. I suppose I'd like to see a true demo of how these various technologies are used. All great ideas, with brilliant minds working behind the scenes.

I am part of an initiative to mobilize several thousand education advocates to actively promote/organize local implementation of individualized, mastery-based learning in every part of the country. Initially, however, we are focused only on grades 3 and 4 with the goal of closing the education gap by pushing ALL children to 100% mastery of core K-4 content (i.e., everyone EQUALLY prepared to succeed academically as they enter 5th grade). The intention is to accomplish this with effective Learning Management Systems and a nationwide teacher/tutor support structure. I am hoping this event will include some discussion about what is being done specifically in the LMS space for K-4 content.
