Confronting the difficulties and expense of getting around the city in a wheelchair has enhanced my dedication to disability rights and accessibility. Since graduation I have been involved with the need for accessible taxis. I have worked with the TLC on several occasions, most recently as a tester for the Handicapped Accessible Dispatch Program. This program as well as other attempts to have the TLC intercede in a meaningful way to improve taxi transportation for the disabled has failed. I have since focused my attention on developing a viable, not for profit entity which would be economically self sustaining and provide affordable and accessible black car service for those with disabilities who live in and travel to NYC.
