Our Victoria Park skate is a new skate route for us ( http://www.mapmyrun.c... ) , through the beautiful neighborhoods of Ft. Lauderdale's Victoria Park and the Las Olas Isles areas!!! This is going to be a special skate/picnic day
We'll meetup at 9:15 am at the park at the very east end of Broward Blvd where we'll start our skate at 9:30 am on N. Victoria Park Rd.
PARKING: There are only about 4 spaces in front of the Park. Otherwise we'll park cars along N Victoria Park Rd. between E. Broward Blvd and SE 2nd Street. This section of Victoria Park Rd is a dead end and can only be accessed from SE 2nd Street.
SKATE DETAILS: We'll begin by skating north through the Victoria Park area. Victoria Park is an upscale revitalized historic area where many homes date back into the 1920's and it is one of Ft. Lauderdale's oldest communities. (http://www.cflca.org/...) . From there we'll wind our way south through the Brickell Drive area which stretches along the New River for a short distance before we skate east on Las Olas along the many different Isles, to the Sunset Lake neighborhood. Along this stretch of the skate there is some very pricey real estate with gorgeous views of the Intracoastal. We'll be skating the various Isles where the less ambitious can wait it out while others skate up and back down the isle.
At the end of the skate we'll regroup in Victoria park to have a picnic lunch. So bring a picnic lunch and beverage for yourself. Also bring a lawn chair or two to sit on since there are no picnic tables in this park.
Remember to bring sunscreen, snacks and water for the skate itself. This a D level (or strong C level) skate (see the About Us page for a description of the levels) and the total distance for the skate will be about 12 miles (a little less if you sit-out some of the isles).

Great skating weather but a bit chilly for a picnic in the park, so instead we had a relaxing lunch on Jim's yacht.
