First Friday skate in Miami Beach "NEW START LOCATION"

We'll start near Fritz's new location and do our regular route north to La Gorce Island and return via North Bay Road. You should be able to skate at least 10-12 mph for about 12 miles. There are several rest stops along the way and a rolling police escort to keep us safe.

We must start promptly at 7:00 pm because the police have to get back to their day jobs, they are all volunteers for the Friday Skate. So please be sure to thank them for their support.
One more thing. Like all major cities Miami Beach is undergoing budget cuts and looking for ways to reduce spending. If only a handful of skaters show up for the 1st Friday Skate, it makes it very hard to justify the police support and the extra expense to the new Miami Beach administration. So we really need to get more people to show up on skates or bikes for this and other 1st Friday Skates. Please make a point of bringing two new people with you on Friday to save our skate.

How can you make a great skate even better? Skate while it is still light and the temperature is perfect! I am really looking forward to the next 1st Friday skates, where we can actually see the fabulous houses in the neighborhoods we pass. And the best - you don't even have to stop for red lights, the Police of Miami Beach is covering for you - you just have to skate and smile. And if you are lucky, Gene will treat you to an additional skate down Ocean Drive to wonderful South Pointe Park with a great vista of Miami. Perfect!
