HaMakom is not a “place” in the physical sense – we gather in people’s homes, in synagogues, out in nature, and in many locations. Rather than a particular physical place, the name HaMakom is symbolic of all places where Jews seek to experience God’s presence. HaMakom is an inclusive, warm, and inviting gathering “place” for exploring Judaism as a spiritual path – a path that offers greater connection to our own hearts and souls, to each other, to the Jewish tradition, and to an awareness of God’s presence in the world and in our lives.
HaMakom is a place where we seek to revitalize our sense of the sacred through engaging in Jewish learning and spiritual practice, where the multiple paths of authentic Jewish engagement are recognized and honored; and where we support and nourish one another on the path of Jewish spiritual growth, though that path may vary for each of us. It is a place where the Torah of our tradition meets the Torah planted within each of us.
