The Chalgrave Heritage Trail (12 Miles Circular)

This circular trail takes us back in history as we discover Chalgrave's hidden history. It can be walked in its entirety or in sections using other footpaths to return to our starting point in the small town of Toddington.

This circular trail is now starting outside Toddington Saint George Church of England School.

There is roadside parking in Manor Road - but please park considerately and car share where possible, so reducing the amount of vehicles we take into this residential area.

Start/Finish: Toddington Saint George Church of England School (outside the main gates) in Manor Road, Toddington, LU5 6AJ.

Walk Route: Toddington - Chalgrave - Wingfield - Hockcliffe - Tebworth - Toddington

Distance: 12 miles

Toilets/Refreshments: The Plough Inn at Wingfield (20 min stop to enjoy your pack lunch and cold or hot drink).

Obstacles: Crossing Toddington Rd (twice), lots of stiles, of which a couple of the stiles have seen better days, uneven ground in some fields, extra care needs to be taken where the grass is high, foot bridges directly after stiles and followed by another stile...in these areas I shall lead from the front and pass any concerns to those directly behind me and or I shall stop and warn of uneven obstacles before you discover it yourselves!! Few stinging nettles, even if the sun is out, I shall be wearing walking trousers and gattors.

Overview: http://chalgrave.bedsparishes.gov.uk/assets/documents/overview-of-heritage-trail - sorry, had to make a slight change to the walk, due to limited parking in the area.

Car sharing: due to our walk starting in a residential area, I am offering 7 spaces in my MPV. I am only wanting to stop once and that is at the Holiday Inn Express, Bedford (A6 / A421 Junction).

I will arrive Holiday Inn Express at 08:15 and be leaving by 8.30am latest.

If you are able to car share with others then that would be great as I really don't want us upsetting the locals to much!! :)

    Thanks Ian

I'm doing a reccy of this walk on either Wednesday or Thursday evening of this week. This will allow me to checkout parking in Tebworth, toilet facilities and whether or not I can increase the walk from 8 to at least 10 miles... as I can already hear a few saying 'is that it, have we really already finished?' lol
