Back by request ...
This walk starts and finishes in the beautiful village of Woburn, and sees us walking through Woburn deer reserve, pass Paris House and walking right past the Elephants enclosure and we usually also see Rhino, Camels and other wide animals!!
Afterwards some of the group like to stop for a well deserved hot or cold drink at the Black Horse back in Woburn. Before going into the Black Horse it would be nice to change into other boots / shoes so we don't walk a tonne of mud into the pub?!
Start/Finish: Woburn Car Park, Park Street, Woburn.
Parking: Free Car Park
Walk Starts: 09:45am - please allow extra time for your journey and ample time to change into your walking boots and to register your arrival with me and £1 walking monies, correct change would be appreciated - this walk must start 09:45am - sorry, but if you're late - we will not wait.
Distance: 10 miles (12.9km)
Time: 4 to 5 hours (includes stoppages)
Hazards: Crossing A5130, kissing gates, public footpaths can have their challenges
Refreshments: Make sure to bring provisions (pack lunch and sufficient water).
Public Toilets: There are public toilet in Woburn in Duck Lane (accessed off George Street or Leighton Street), and also at the entrance to Woburn Safari Park. The entrance to the park is approx 6 miles into the walk, my suggestion is that we stop here for approx 25 mins (refresh and bite to eat - pack lunch).
Car Share: Please can we arrange to car share, thus reducing the number of vehicles we bring into Woburn Car Park - I'm sure we won't be the only people visit the area and only fair we don't take all the available spaces!
• Please check the weather in the days running up to and on the day of the walk and come prepared - example: waterproofs, sunscreen, sun hat, correct footwear, suitable/comfortable base layers, tops, bottoms, blister plasters, sun glasses, walking poles if used, sufficient drinking water, energy food, snacks, lunch.
• Plan your journey, it's important you know where you are going and make sure your SatNav is going to take you to our start/finish location. I don't know the local roads and cannot help guide you in, plus I shall be registering those arriving and be pretty busy getting myself and others sorted at the start/finish location.
