Belfast CSA Fair Planning

This meeting is to do organizing, planning, and prep work for our contribution to the Belfast Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair. Belfast Transition is co-sponsoring the CSA-CSF (fishery)-CSB (beer) Fair with the Belfast Co-op. Last year we had music, food for sale, samples from new local food businesses, and a BAKE SALE. We use the proceeds to buy permaculture & food books, magazine subscriptions, and DVDs for the Belfast Free Library.

We're hosting the 2014 Belfast CSA Fair at Troy Howard Middle School (THMS) on Sun. 3/2 from 1-3pm. The THMS Garden Project is co-sponsoring, along with MOFGA, Belfast Transition and the Co-op. We currently have: Bahner Farm (Belmont), Farmetta Farm (Morrill), New Beat Farm (Knox), Springdale Farm (Waldo), and Village Farm (Freedom) signed up (I just sent the invite four days ago). Also, Sue Coolbeth of "Suecakes" will be bringing her vegan gluten-free baked goods for sampling & sale. I'll be inviting Frets Halligan & friends to provide music, and am hoping the folks from Port Clyde Fresh Catch will be joining us with local, sustainably harvested seafood. It was so wonderful to have the Transition crew's help last year - I'm thrilled you'll be involved again! ~ kate, education & publicity coordinator, Belfast Co-op

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
