Come join us for a woodsy, dark (and very likely blustery & cold) after hours hike this evening at the favorite - but ever so sloppy this time of year - Lake Padden. Leashed & well behaved dogs are welcome on this walk.
We will be meeting at the WEST entrance, by the restrooms. (The East entrance is by the boat ramp, golf course and dog park.)
A WORKING HEADLAMP and a considerable amount of balance/stamina is necessary for these night hikes.
Night hiking takes more energy & concentration as you are working without your full sight range and often, hearing is also impaired by rainfall and/or hats. Bring your stopwatch & heart rate monitor if you have one. I'll include a record on this site of the distance/time we walked if you'd like to add it to a workout log or somesuch. Be prepared for a muddy romp and sloppy ground - unless of course, we luck out and it is below freezing!
Plan on between 1 to 1.5 hours of hiking as we will loop around and hike different areas of the park as a group. The only thing for certain is that we will be leaving the relatively flat lake trail to go off the beaten path - so a headlamp for each walker is necessary when we enter the woods.
Here is a map if you want to see the terrain.
I hope to see you on the trail! Jean
