Who wants to Run the Bellingham Half Marathon

Let's meet at the main WEST entrance, by the restrooms. (The East entrance is by the boat ramp, golf course and dog park.) Bear with me as I'm coming back into running after a 5 year absence.

Bring your headlamp, but I plan to stay on the main path for this run/walk. Feel free to run at your own pace - sometimes it's just great to know other people are out there on the trails with you - it gives you the motivation to get out there.

Bellingham Bay Half Marathon...Anyone up for training for the half marathon that takes place in our backyard Sunday, September 28? Should be a fantastic run! I'm thinking a once a week commitment for the run (you can run on your own schedule 2 other times throughout the week).

Join me for a beginning walk/run starting in March...More details to follow.

  • Start time: 7:30 AM (7:00 AM for early start walkers only) - NO LATE STARTS
  • Participant age must be at least 18 years by day of race
  • 500 registrations capacity
  • Participants receive a gender specific Leslie Jordan technical shirt (sizes S to XXL; check fit guide for accurate size selection)
  • Finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal
  • Free shuttle bus transportation for marathon participants is available from E Maple St & Cornwall Av near Depot Market Square to marathon start line.
  • Opening ceremony at the beautiful Wex'liem (Place of the Frogs) Community Building
  • Start on Lummi Nation School entrance driveway off Blackhawk Way on Gooseberry Point
  • Shuttle bus from finish line at Depot Market Square to marathon race start on Gooseberry Point for participants

    Yes - Walking is great and they DO offer that option for the BBHM. The date for the marathon is Sunday, Sept 28th, 2014. I will be in Glacier Natl Park backpacking, right up to that weekend, but I still plan on training for this... and participating on race day. By March, it won't be so darn dark at 5pm, so that's why I choose that time to start our workouts, be they running or walking.

    Have run many marathons, including Boston...but 30 + years ago...messed up my knees, so only walk now...they gotta last 'til I'm 120 years old. Can I walk? Also interested in biking...have no bike, but it must be kinda like walking...difficult to forget how.

    i have particpated in a 16 mile bike ride in omaha...this might be something to consider...will there be any "training" rides...

    Okay. Bellingham Bay Marathon (I'm interested in doing the half) is Sept 29th. I'm starting a biking program in January so I can enjoy the Tour de Lopez on April 27th. Sundays? Fridays?

    Randy - I understand. I'm starting from scratch on the running program myself! When I get back from this bike ride on Lopez, I'll try to work out some details on training. What day(s) and time(s) are best for you for running or biking - whichever or both that you are interested in?
    Mark - Same goes for you...When are you available to do at least 1x run or bike with others?
