Soft Skills Session: Encouragement for the Job Search Journey

  • May 3, 2014 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Jason Rusk has a story to tell.  Join us on May 3rd to hear his personal journey of 22 months of unemployment.  Hear how he stayed encouraged through the ups and downs and how he learned to stay positive despite the challenges.

A light breakfast will be served.

About Soft Skills Sessions at BJSP:

Searching for a Job is never fun. This session deviates from the Professional Business Education offered by Beltway Job Search Partners.

Jason and Alesha Rusk along with Terri McConnell will facilitate this session where the BJSP team offers encouragement from their experiences. Both Jason and Terri have been through hard job searches. This motivates them to do their best to encourage you.

Attendees at the last session were extremely complimentary. Some of them called it the best networking session - even though it was not meant to be a networking session.

Unlike typical BJSP sessions which are business education, this session will have a clear Christian component to it. Yet, people who do not consider themselves to be Christian seem to get the most encouragement from these sessions.

This session will be in a private residence rather than in a business setting. The dress code will be business causal.

Hopefully, you will leave this session uplifted and encouraged.

This event was so helpful to me. Thank you very much, Jason and Alesha, for sharing your stories and your home. I felt inspired and encouraged.

I just heard about two expos for job seekers over 50. For information, contact [masked] or 301.255.4209.

Jason emphasized the difference reaching out to others made in going through his 22 month job search. Alesha also shared her story in supporting him through the process. Thank you, Jason and Alesha, for sharing with us and for opening your beautiful home to us.

Jason's story was very inspirational. Jason and Alesha were great at answering questions. I am feeling much more confident after leaving this event and I highly recommend others try this event at least once.

Sorry about the last minute change. When I signed up, I completely forgot that I have a prior commitment.

I'm interested, but when I click the link you provided I get the message "The Meetup Group you're looking for doesn't exist."

Sorry I didn't find your message sooner, Sheila! We have just had our Open House and it was quite a success. However, since many attendees could not make it because of the heavy rain, we probably will schedule a make-up event - live or online. In the meantime, you may check our website ( and feel free to contact me with any questions you have!

I can't wait to hear how Jason Rusk over a 22 month period "stayed encouraged" and weathered through the peaks and valleys with a positive mindset.
