This meet up is for gun owners and wannabe owners, with 2 objectives:
1. Create a social experience for learning about gun ownership: laws (MD/DC/VA), training requirements, practice opportunities, types of firearms (i.e. which one should I buy for my first, or my second, or third?), care and maintenance, etc.

2. Create scheduled opportunities to get out there and practice shooting, in another social experience!

You should consider joining this meet-up if you think you might like to buy a gun, or you know you want to buy a gun but you aren't sure which one or how to do it, OR if you own a gun but hardly ever get to use it and want a chance to learn more and go to more places to shoot than the one you know already, OR if you own guns, love guns, and know everything about guns and want to share that love or knowledge with others, OR if you are with DHS, FBI, CIA, NSA, or other unnamed agency and you want to infiltrate a group interested in guns because after all that is a suspicious, though constitutionally-protected, red flag.

*If you are in the latter group, welcome, I know you can't help it. But please, if you make friends, make them real friends and don't just use us and abandon us. I personally have an unhealthy attraction to the law enforcement/cowboy type, but it's a definite turn-off when the bravado isn't matched with brains and compassion.

Please DON'T join this meet-up if you love wanton violence, criminal activity, or are so committed to gun rights that you see a conspiracy under every tree and can't rationally discuss existing regulations and restrictions without spittle forming in and jetting out from the corners of your mouth. Vigorous discussion and strong opinions based on experience and facts are very welcome, as long as the opinions are tempered by a willingness to listen--with at least a sliver of an open mind--to an opposing viewpoint!

About the knives -- I just threw that in there but I'm willing to be educated about the lures and responsibilities of knife ownership, use of knives in self-defense, etc. Likewise tasers. But we'll start with guns!
