This is a list of local authors that write great books about Oregon. Some are trail guides, historical, novels based on history and in depth descriptions of our landscape. Exploring an area is more fun when you know about its geology and who was here before us. Please suggest other books too.
William Sullivan : He has the best trail guides, lots of other books on Oregon and fun novels. Check out oregonhiking.com
Les Joslin : He has a book just on the Three Sisters Wilderness, historic guard stations(Uncle Sam's Cabins) and nonfiction works on the lives of forest rangers including himself. wildernessheritage.com

Most of these can be found at local bookstores, the High Desert Museum and the Deschutes County Historical Museum.
