Bend Arduino Group - Expenses

For those of you that were not at the last meeting, I'll bring you up to speed on a couple of things.

Bend Arduino Group is one year old! This is great. Through the participation of everyone and the hard work and vision of David, we have grown and the group is now more interesting than ever before.

The birthday of the group also brings up the subject of expenses. This group has only one expense; And Meetup does a good job of keeping us in touch and scheduling meetings. So, the changes of $72 every 6 months seems like a reasonable charge.

We intend to keep running this group on the cheap. We all would rather be spending our money on projects than group dues. And we do not want want to implement a mandatory membership dues for the group, because we don't want dues to be a barrier to people interested in joining the group.

That said, we'd like to ask for a voluntary contribution to cover the charges for If everyone gave a dollar, we'd have plenty of money to pay the ongoing charges.

And David Robson, as the organizer and founder of this group, has paid these expenses out of his pocket in the past. He has received some donations, but not enough to cover the expenses. I know we all benefit from the group, so we should all cover this one operating expense.

From now on, we'll be collecting donations at the meetings. We'll ask everyone to throw in a buck or two at each meeting. Or if you don't want to remember to bring cash to every meeting, just throw in $5 once in a while. This is strictly voluntary, and on the honor system.

I won't be there tonight. So could someone else handle this? Or maybe we could cut a slot in the top of a SparkFun box and just set it by the door for all future meetings.
