Special Note! Thanks to John Stockham, we will have two great options for riding the mtb trails along Waldo Lake! There will be an Advanced-Intermediate Loop (led by Jay) and an Advanced-Beginner Ride (led by John.) Both rides will start at 9am and we will all lunch and paddle together afterwards! More Participants = More Fun!
Please note which mtb ride you plan to do when you RSVP.
Who's up for a full day at Waldo lake to mountainbike the area's incredible singletrack and follow up with a refreshing paddle on the lake (kayak/canoe/SUP?) We'll meet at the Shadow Bay boat launch on the south side of Waldo at 9am.
MTB ride choices are;
The Waldo Lake Loop Trail, an Advanced-Intermediate singletrack with fantastic views of the lake and surrounding area. The ride takes about 3.5 hours at the moderate pace we'll be going. The ride is not extreme, but definitely not for beginners. Please be sure you're comfortable with the distance and elevation gain of the ride. The pace will be moderate, allowing us to take in the scenery. We will make several short stops to keep everyone together, but want to keep moving so we have plenty of time for paddling. Perfect for the stronger intermediate rider....also great for the advanced rider who's more interested in a social ride than moving up the Strava rankings.
Ride Rating; Upper Intermediate; Endurance Rating E3.5, Technical Rating T3.5
(to see rating descriptions, click "More" tab above and select "Files"), 20.5 Miles and about 2000’ of climbing. About 3.5 hours.
East Waldo Out & Back, an Advanced Beginner & Intermediate ride along the rolling singletrack from Shadow Bay to North Waldo campground. The ride takes about 3 hours at our relaxed pace with plenty of rest/regroup stops. A few short climbs and some less-technical rock sections. Perfect for the intermediate rider or the advanced beginner. However, not a beginner ride.
Ride Rating; Advanced Beginner & Intermediate; Endurance Rating E2.5, Technical Rating T2.5 (to see rating descriptions, click "More" tab above and select "Files"), 12 Miles and about 1000’ of climbing. About 3 hours.
After a break for lunch, we'll hit the water for a refreshing paddle along the shore (2-3 hours). We should be back in Bend between 7 and 8pm. This will be a long day adventure and participants should be up for this level of activity.
The paddling will be relaxed, social and fun!
