Skyline Forest via Mrazek - Advanced-Intermediate MTB Ride!

In a recent article in the Bend Bulletin, local legend Bob Woodward promoted Skyline Forest as a throwback gem to the early days of the Phil's Trail system.  He rode the area 55 out of 65 days recently and only saw 5 other riders during that time.  BACE did one of our first longer rides in this area back in April (when we had less than 100 members) and it met with rave reviews.  Let's repeat that adventure again before the weather turns.  The details......

Here's a great advanced-intermediate ride...exploring Skyline Forest via Mrazek Trail!  From Shevlin Park, we'll ride 5 miles up Mrazek before diverting onto a rustic double-track into Skyline Forest.  We'll do a 12 mile loop of the area and return via Mrazek.  There are some technical sections along Mrazek, but the remainder of the ride will be more rolling terrain and less technical.  Skyline Forest is not maintained by COTA and feels more remote than it actually is.  The trails in Skyline Forest can be loose and sandy, adding to the technical rating.

We will ride at a moderate pace.  Ideal for the advanced-intermediate rider, or the advanced rider more interested in seeing some Central Oregon history that moving up the strava rankings.  The area has remnants of several old lumber mills and we will stop to take in the scenery and regroup as needed.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the ride specifics.

Bring a sandwich (etc.), as we'll stop along the way for lunch.

I've been riding Skyline Forest a lot over the past 3 months. I love it. Rarely see anyone else. It's not like riding any of the COTA trails...
