Night MTB - Maston Allotment

We'll plan to ride[masked] minutes at Maston.  Though the terrain is moderate, the conditions at night will make the terrain more like an intermediate ride and require that you have very, very good lighting.

Lighting.  Folks seem to prefer 100 lumens or more.  Most find the simple 1 Watt LED headlamps insufficient.  I am riding currently with a 650 lumen Nightrider on the handle bars and a 250 lumen Nightrider helmet mounted.  There are many sufficient configurations - let me know if you have questions.

Bring water, energy food, lighting, bike repair gear, and appropriate clothing for inclement weather.  It's cold out after sunset so dress appropriately.

To carpool we'll meet 6:00 pm at the parking lot outside of the Starbucks on the north end of town.  Or, meet us 6:15 at the trailhead..  Please be on time so we can leave on time.

Very fun first ride on a fat tire bike....except for my silly dive into the dirt. Don't worry, though, the bike is fine! Thanks to Ron for providing the big wheels.

Super dusty, sandy ride, but perfect for day two on Ron's fat bike!

Just did my first ride at Maston this AM after failing to find a work crew out there. Great tracks! The little rock gardens are fun. I'll come back for training rides, a little sand is good for the legs. I got that squeaky fresh-snow sound a few times off my new tires. Other riders encountered in 12.5 miles on a Saturday morning: 0.
