CrossTour - Intermediate 'Cross or MTB Ride; Tumalo to Maston

Warmer and drier weather is on the horizon, so let's get in another "Cross Tour" ride that will include paved road, fireroad and singletrack.  From Tumalo Coffee House, we'll meander via Tumalo and Twin Bridges Roads to Maston for a loop around the singletrack.  We'll then return via Cline Falls Rd to Tumalo.  We can gather for a post ride lunch at El Caporal Mexican Restaurant on Cook Rd.  This ride could include wet conditions, cinder/snow covered pavement, mud, ice or ??  A 'cross bike should be ideal for these conditions, but a mountainbike would also be suitable.  Road or fat bikes would not be appropriate.

Weather can be variable at this time of year so plan accordingly and check back on this site for changes to the ride or cancellation due to storm.

The predicted high temp for Sunday ranges from 43 to 50, depending on the source, so be prepared. Err on the side of warmth with your hands and feet. If you don't have winter shoes use warm shoe covers. If you wear something a little light make it your coat, but bring an extra. Please review Gary's tips for winter riding and pack accordingly (see Discussion page)

25 miles +/-,  about 3 hours.  Bike Rating: Intermediate; IMBA More Difficult (Blue Square) due to length and surfaces more than technical http://files.meetup.com/7699322/IMBA%20Trail%20Difficulty.jpg

Fantastic ride. Thanks for the opportunity to get our bikes and ourselves completely filthy-makes me feel like a European in those bike movies! Great idea Jay, let's do it again.

Warning: Don't poo poo the fatbike option Jay. Your loop around Maston could be an adventure...there's 2-3 inches of slippery sliding awaiting you and it was challenging for us on the fatties yesterday. Hopefully more snow will melt off by Sunday. Have a blast! :)

Thanks for the update Nat. We'll keep the options open for sticking to the fireroads around Maston. Although, that sounds like 'cross bike heaven, as long as we aren't doing damage to the trails.......

I'm more worried about life and limb than trail damage. And shudder to think someone may not have FUN on a BACE ride ;) I suspect y'all will have a great time regardless!
