Easy to Moderate Road Ride Along the Metolius River

Let's ride the shady (and hopefully cooler) roads along the Metolius River near Camp Sherman. This is a very scenic ride following the river. The route will generally follow the designated Metolius River Scenic Bikeway Route. A total of approximately 22 to 24 miles. The terrain is level to rolling with no major hills. The pace will be 12 to 14 mph. This ride is not posted as a beginners ride and riders should be comfortable with a consistent moderate pace. Following the ride there will be an optional lunch at the Camp Sherman Store, which has great sandwiches and dynamite smoothies.

For those wishing to carpool please meet at the Starbucks at the Cascade Village Shopping Center at 9:00.

I called the Camp Sherman Store to check on the road / fire status. Forest Service Road 14 is currently open to the bridge - so we should be fine for our regular loop tomorrow. Meet at 9 at Starbucks or 10 at Camp Sherman

I really wanted to do this ride, but I am going to beg off on this ride. Given the closeness of the fire(s) and the lousy air quality, I think I will wait for a better riding situaiton. I hope you reschedule or do this ride again, because I would really like to do it!

I am canceling the Metolius Ride due to road closures associated with Bridge 99 Complex fires.
I will reschedule the ride for next Thursday July 24. Carol and I are headed to the mountains to stay cool!

I'd love to do this ride. I think the area might be closed because of the Bridge 99 fire. Would you consider re-scheduling it?

I've heard there's a fire north of camp sherman. Will this impact the Thursday ride and will you post an update should conditions change?

Regarding the question about elevation change - there is not much. No major climbs, but a series of rolling hills
