Clean-up Day for Bend Off-Leash Dog Parks

  • April 26, 2014 · 9:00 AM

Every year in the spring DogPAC in conjunction with the Bend Parks & Recreation District hosts a clean-up day to spruce up our great off-leash dogs parks here in Dogtown USA!  This year the clean-up will take place at all the off-leash parks in town simultaneously. DogPAC will have representatives at all the dog parks that day.  This will be a No Host event.

Thanks for all your hard work. I work weekends and couldn't participate. I always try to pick up my dog's poop, and some extra. Thank you everyone who helped out!

Greg and I worked at Big Sky Park. There were a number of volunteers working there. We worked from 10:00 until 11:30.

Mike & I made the local paper! A little surprised by it. Again, we were glad to be a part of the clean up with all of you. Thanks for letting us know about the event Mark.

I was at Ponderosa Park. Where were all the others who signed up for the dog park cleanup day?

I got to Ponderosa Park around 10:00. There were just a few that were there cleaning. I was the only one there at that time from BCF.

I was the DogPAC host at Hollinshead. Not too many volunteers, but three intrepid poop picker uppers (park adopter Ken, Chris, and Morgan) who made the park and periphery shine! Thanks, too, to BRPD personnel Becky and Allie.

Mike & I went to Pine Nursery. There were quite a few others there volunteering. It was great to see! Glad we could be part of it.

It was nice to help out. Mark, thanks for letting me know about Ponderosa Park. I had never been there before. What a cute off leash park.

Should we just show up at the dog park of our choice? Will there be reps from BPRD and/or dogpac?

    April 24, 2014

    • Jan G.

Julie, dog park of your choice between 9 -12. Thanks!

Jan, do you have any 'best guess' as to which of the dog parks would have the fewest volunteers? I'll go to any of them.

I wasn't looking too hard either, but I'm sure glad I saw it before I stepped in it! ;D

There's always "extra" under the trees.

Great to see so many of our Bend Canine Friends members signing up for the clean up day at the BPRD off leash dog parks this coming Saturday. Way to go Bendites. You're the best!!

DogPAC and BPRD appreciate the support!

I work weekends, too bad, so sad not to be able to assist you.
I frequently pick up bags and bags of poop. I have carried at least 10 lbs of poop off the Sawyer Park/O'Reilly road trail. I'd love to help with this event, but, not on the weekend.

I understand the concerns about dog poop and certainly do not appreciate finding it underfoot. However, I think a greater hazard to our environment is non-biodegradable plastic bags. What is the plan for poop collection for this event? Thanks for your consideration!

    • Jan G.

      BPRD uses biodegradable bags.

Jan Gifford of DogPAC just informed me that the April 26 Dog Park Cleanups are for BPRD OLAs only. Map: http://www.dogpac.org/B2_Bendmap.pdf

DogPAC will schedule a Good Dog OLA Cleanup later this Spring.....with Beer and Burgers afterward!

Woo! Hoo! Happy to see people signing up. Last year very few people showed up at Big Sky OLA so we hope that some of you will give this area some TLC.

So do we just go to any of the dog parks we want to, or do we sign up for specific ones?

    March 13, 2014

    • Mark D.

So the short answer is you go to your favorite dog park at 9AM on 4/26. Check back here later for more details.

      Thanks Mark...will do!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
