Hike the Deschutes River Trail from Meadow Picnic Area to Big Eddy.

Kiki ripped a big patch of skin off of her toe, all in a day's work!

Oh poor Kiki! Burki has been having this problem lately too. Seems to be when she is in decomposed granite or at the riverbend dog park is when it happens most. She is still healing from one she did the other day. Hopefully Burki can meet Kiki soon, since we didn't get to join you guys today.

HI Paula, thank you for your comment. Do you bandage Burki when she has toe problems, or just let it heal on its own? I don't want to walk her for a few days to keep debris out. We are excited to meet you and play!

Hi Dania, sometimes bandage her foot if it's really bad. Like after the first meetup I did Burki did this same thing and also nearly tore off her duclaw. I had to end up bandaging her foot for that because the poor duclaw was split and most of it fell off to expose the quick after another romp on the trails at Awbrey Reservoir. She has been having trouble with the duclaw and the pads ever since. If Kiki's pad is bleeding at all, I might bandage it, at least to keep the house from getting bloody. You could get some Sovereign Silver First Aid Gel from Whole Foods and put it on and bandage it. It heals pretty quick.

HI Paula, thank you so much for the great tips. Kiki has been keeping the pad so clean, licking and such, that today it is starting to scab. I think I will keep an eye on it day by day and go from there. I hope Burki heals quickly. I am sending healing thoughts your way:)

Yeah, they usually heal very well on their own. I have only had to bandage one time on my Golden. He had blisters that popped, then bled alot and were really tender and sore. Glad she seems to be doing well.
