Photography in Smith Rock State Park

Many of you have expressed interest in doing hands-on outings to practice your skills, as well as doing nature/landscape photography, and Smith Rock seems like an ideal place to start. From sheer cliffs to river canyons, wildlife to plant life, there’s a bit of everything here.

We’ll meet at the Starbucks in Cascade Village (North Highway 97) and then carpool to the park. Drivers will need a state park pass; day passes can be purchased at the park for $5.

There are several trails in the park, ranging from easy to strenuous. The focus of this outing will be photography, not hiking, but please prepare as if you were hiking. Wear sturdy shoes/boots (that you don’t mind getting muddy), warm clothing, and bring water/snacks.

Plan to be out until approximately noon/early afternoon.

The cost is $1 to help cover the Meetup fee.

Actually, a 7 star event... So here are two more stars: ** What a perfect day, and nice group of leisurely photographers.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
