Fall Colors on the McKenzie River

Would anyone like to join me for a few hours of fall color photography on the McKenzie River trail? The colors were looking great today and should be near peak next weekend. I plan to go to the Blue Hole trail head and hike a couple of miles to the Blue Hole. Bring your camera gear and stuff for an easy/moderate hike. We may be there for a few hours so better bring lunch. Also - check the weather forecast in case you might need rain gear. I can take 2 in my car. More than that and we'll need to car pool. Meet me at the Starbucks in the Cascade Village shopping area (next to World Market and opposite Best Buy) at 8am. Saturday 20th October.

Another perfect photography day on the McKenzie. It was snowing as we crossed Santiam but the sun was peeking out further down the valley. The forest was dripping wet but lit by shafts of sunlight. We had some light rain - just enough to make the colors nice. A good day. Thanks to all the participants.

The Weather forecast for the McKenzie Bridge area on Saturday is Showers with a 40% chance of rain. It might not be the best weather for Fall Colors but the forest has its own special charm when it is wet. I plan to go anyway - remember to bring your waterproof shell and pants. http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail2/ORRMAMR:13
