To all,

Please delete that last email from meetup.  It was intended for John Chinnock, not the entire Photography Group.

Thanks,

Robert

Hi John,

I made 6K last year in real estate and another 3K cleaning houses for real estate.  No.  It would be nice, but way beyond my means.  Food, clothing and shelter are more important! J

As you all know, I don't condone using the meetup it for personal financial gain or commercial ventures. So, I'm simply forwarding an email from member Ed Zimmerman, as he LOVES raft trips and hopes others in our group will join him to shoot photos with him in the "boatprints" of John Wesley Powell.

Here's the email I received from him a few minutes ago.

Good evening all -

Hope everyone is well and happy.... here is the information for the Lodore Canyon of the Green River rafting trip.... it is long but want to give you as much information as possible.... I will be gone on the 7th and will miss the SAS meeting but will be at the April meeting with another presentation.

It is a 4 day 3 night trip in one of the most beautiful canyons on earth.... it was first run by John
Wesley Powell and one of the men in his party called the entrance 'The Gates of Lodore'.... it is
like a mini Grand Canyon with the same colors and similar rock formations.... a gentle river with
class III being the highest of the rapids.... 3 ways to do it.... staying in the big raft, changing in and out of the paddle boat and inflatable kayaks.... very similar to the Rogue River here in southern Oregon.... it is my favorite of all the rivers I have run and this will be my fourth trip... the beauty of the Lodore Canyon is unsurpassed.

The price is $599.00 and we must have 11 people sign up to get that price.... otherwise it will go to
$659.00 which is still less than the regular price of $789.00 and the regular group price of $689.00.
This is my 19th year going with ARTA and I can assure you they never disappoint.... the guides are
excellent, the food wonderful and the campsites are great..

$100.00 deposit is required by March 15th - ARTA - [masked] - they take all
major credit cards.

Schedule: Launch date, put in, is June 1st at the Gates of Lodore.... we meet in Dinosaur National Monument Split Mountain where we leave our cars and bused to the put in.... take out is after lunch on June 4th at Split
Mountain right where we parked our cars.

For those going from Bend we would car pool so as to reduce gas cost.... for those flying into Salt Lake City we will find a way to pick you up as we drive by the SLC airport.... leave Bend on May 30th and spend the first night in Tremonton, UT at the Western Inn.... I have stayed there 3 times and it is good.... that day is a long drive of 582 miles.... after a leisurely breakfast May 31st we have a 243 mile drive to Vernal, UT which
gives you down time to take a nap or get around town.... it will also get you on the river rested and refreshed.... great sporting goods store there with a large selection of clothing, camping equipment, etc.... since it is only a sleep night I stay at the Motel 6 which is one of the better ones in the chain.... very clean and updated.... there are others but more expensive.... also, doubling up makes it less expensive.... .... several restaurants to chose from.... that night we meet with the lead guide and 2 others for the pre-trip
meeting to get acquainted and get the dry bags to use for the 4 days.... easy to pack and use.... for those who
are taking their first trip my son and I will help you get it packed correctly so your stuff stays dry.... the guides also give a demonstration.... the next morning is an early breakfast and short drive into Dinosaur National Monument to meet the lead guide and board the bus.

On the return trip home I usually stay in a Motel 6 near the airport so as to get those folks that flew in back out the next morning.... coming off the river after lunch it is about a 4 hour drive and you'll be longing
for a hot shower, pizza and a beer.... on the 5th I will drive to Ontario, OR and spend the night.... breakfast the next morning at the Apple Peddler in Burns and get back to Bend about noon to 1 p.m. rested.... you can drive to Bend from Salt Lake, but then you arrive home tired.... always your choice.

That's an overview and you can check out ARTA on their web site: http://www.arta.org/.... it is an easy site to navigate and you can rent camping equipment at reasonable rates.... tent, sleep kit, etc.... they will answer any questions when you call in the deposit.

However, if you have any immediate questions please do not hesitate to call me @ [masked] or email me [address removed].... I am in the process of moving so this email address and home phone will be no longer as of next Wednesday.

Also, if you want to see photos of past Lodore trips I will be happy to send you some.... about mid May I will hold a meeting to show a DVD of two of the trips along with tips on what to bring over and above ARTA's packing list.

That's about it for now.... I look forward to doing a river trip with you.

Take care; be well.

Ed
