Hi I am new to this meet up group. I live in jersey city. I have been in USA since 2007. So good to see so many Bengalis here in NYC. I am a big lover of Bengali culture and enthusiast.

    Bondhugon,
There is a Poila Boisha.k event happening in the city this Saturday evening that I just got to know. I cannot vouch for it, but it is interesting and also it is super close to my house :) However bulk of the event seems to be based on a fashion show, so I don't know. I am not very keen on fahsion shows and might be bored. But they are also promising "tok-jhal-mishti" khabar and musicians from Bangladesh, so that might be interesting. Anyhow here's the details: https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/p...
I am a little unsure myself as I might not be back from Haverford, PA before Saturday afternoon. On the other hand since this is very close to my house (Baruch College), it might be feasible to go too.

Does anyone know about an authentic fuchka serving place? Where those crispy delicate beauties of wheatish complexion are dunked in amoeba-filled tetul jol and transported swiftly from the shaalpatar dona to the mouth (adequately open) with a velocity that just balances the combined pull of winddrift and gravity on the leaking water? I can take even a 2-hour train ride for that.

It was great to just relax, sing, chat, read some childhood classic literature, and share some personal literary creations of one of our members. It is what the meetups should be. Nice to see some old faces whom I hadn't seen in a while (Riad and Moni) and also get to know one of our newer members (Nusrat) a little bit more. Sangeeta, as usual, was the perfect host!

One of the best ever! I did not know our group had such charming singing talent. Rupa, that article needs to be published, even the thought of long ghostly hair coming over the doorway does not prevent me from thinking about the time in Kolkata spent growing up, which I often tend to forget.

Terrific! It was a perfect balance of adda, literature, reading, music and food. Familial, warm, cerebral and funny. This is why we are who we are.

this is interesting - how moving higher up the chain allows people to promise the impossible.
