Sunday! Sunday!! Sunday!!!
West Coast Who Dey Family,
I have one thing to say: Holy freakin’ Sanzenbacher! If last week’s victory didn’t get you excited, I’m not quite sure what will…. Breaking Bad finale doesn’t count, yo! What may go down as one of the strangest Bengals games in history has brought us to a very solid 2-1 record. Nobody said the beginning of our schedule would be easy, but this team simply does not give up. Terence Newman, Michael Johnson, Carlos Dunlap and the rest of our defense have put fear into the hearts of all NFL teams. Marvin Lewis said that in order to be a great team, you have to beat the great teams. Green Bay was one of those great teams, and we got the job done.
But we have another challenge in front of us this Sunday at 10 am. While Cleveland may not look like the powerhouse that Green Bay seemed to be, our beloved Bengals never have an easy game against them. No Trent Richardson? No problem, apparently. The Browns have found a new offensive threat with TE Jordan Cameron, who is coming off a three-touchdown game last weekend. If our line and secondary step up like they did against Green Bay, we shouldn’t have any issues. However, playing in Cleveland is one of our toughest games every single season.
QB Andy Dalton has been good but not up to his full potential as of yet. I’ve heard many ask, “Which Dalton is going to show up today?” Luckily we have one of the speediest running backs in the NFL right now with Gio Bernard continuing to rack up the yards and getting closer to a full time starting spot over The Law Firm. Furthermore, our opponents are starting to realize that you cannot just worry about A.J. Green. Marvin Jones, Tyler Eifert and Jermaine Gresham have made some huge catches and big plays. If Dalton can settle down and use these weapons, we are likely going to score a lot of points.
As of Wednesday, our secondary continues to battle injuries. Leon Hall, Reggie Nelson, and Dre Kirkpatrick all sat out with hamstring injuries. Our fumble-recovery hero Terence Newman was limited with knee problems, and CB Brandon Ghee is finally back after a concussion that kept him out for a long time. Hopefully, Geno Atkins and the boys on the line will make it easier for our secondary and put some heavy pressure on the Browns QB.
Nice turnout last week, but we can do better! This team is working hard for us, so let’s send our positive vibes all the way back to Ohio. Believe it or not, our numbers in Pasadena have an impact on how well we play. I think that’s correct.
For you Reds fans in the group, it appears that the final game of the season will also begin around 10 am on Sunday, so we will try to get a television devoted to whoopin’ up on the Pirates. If we take 2 of the 3 games, we get home field advantage for the wild card game. It’s going to be tough, but with this Reds team, you never know! I’ll be rockin’ my Reds hat along with #18 jersey. Equal love for our boys back home.
And with that,
