Hike up to and around Lake Anza with our dogs

Let's meet at the Meadows Picnic Area in Tilden and hike up the trail to Lake Anza and then walk around the lake. This is a pretty easy but beautiful hike, that takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete.

To find Meadows Picnic Area, enter Tilden at the intersection of Grizzly Peak Blvd., Spruce Street, and Canon Drive. Then turn left on Canon Drive and then right on Central Park Drive and into the first parking lot on your left.

You will find us frolicking in the field, where we will wait, and meet and greet, for about 10 minutes before heading out on the hike. If you get there late, follow the trail that starts across the field by the bathrooms and just try to join us in progress.

Hope to see you there!

I will be coming later and just stay at the meadow. Still doing errands now. I will look for the group, Heather.

This sounds like a great hike! Is it in-leash or off-leash?

Hi! I always walk my dog off leash on this hike, and so do all the people I pass on the path, although I don't know for certain if this is officially an off leash area.

Do you have an estimate how long the hike will be? How many miles?

Hi Jessica - the hike takes about an hour and a half to two hours, depending upon how leisurely you walk. I don't know how many miles it is.

Hi Michele - I am also map challenged, and that is partly why I picked this location, as it is easy to find. Spruce is one of the two main ways to get into the Berkeley Hills. It intersects Cedar, so you can drive up Cedar and turn left on Spruce. You will drive on Spruce for awhile. Spruce dead-ends at Grizzly Peak, the main road at the top of the hills. At that point you enter the park by driving straight and immediately turning left onto Canon Drive. Follow Canon Drive down a small hill, and it will dead-end at Central Park Drive. Turn right on Central Park Drive. The very first parking lot on your left is the parking lot for Meadows Picnic Area. I hope you find us!

Thanks Heather, I live on Tunnel Rd which turns into Ashby. I am not familiar with Cedar. If you are in Berkeley, perhaps I can meet you somewhere convenient and just follow you to the meeting area in my car.

I am new to California and I get lost easily when my GPS cannot lead me to locations directly. That said, I live in Berkeley but I am map challenged and hope I can find the exact location of our meeting place for this hike.
