                                   Winter Solstice Drum Circle

A Gathering for Ceremony, Celebration and Community

~ FREE EVENT ~  A "give away from Spirit"

The Center For Shamanic Healing and the Oakland Center For Spiritual Living invite you to an Solstice evening of Community Drumming and Shamanic Ritual.

Please join us for this sacred time of honoring the darkness and the light as we journey and vision through drumming, chanting, and/or movement ~ whatever moves your Spirit. All are welcome, no experience necessary. All drum types welcome. Rattles, shakers, and other instruments also welcome. For more information, please contact Kent Dorsey at [masked]

This Drum Circle is a bit different from the usual Center For Shamanic Healing offerings. Bringing many traditions together, we are focused on using the beat of the circle's drums to connect to Spirit with intention.

Co-Facilitators: Rev. Ouida Joi, Kent Dorsey, Linda Schwan, and Mary Ferrick

The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper

So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,
And when the new year's sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us - Listen!!
All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, fest, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome Yule!!

We ask that you stay in circle for the whole event.

    This was my first drum circle and I found it to be very powerful. Thank you all for helping create an enlightening, positive, and liberating space together.

    Blessings to all who came... and even thought about coming. What an amazing evening. We had over 80 in circle. The meet up group is not the only group that attended the event.

    The link for more information for this drumming circle event doesn't work for me. I was hoping it would be a map for the location. If I can make it I'll be driving down from Yosemite again. Still contemplating staying with friends in Berkeley for the night. Thanks.

    Is this a kids friendly event?

      Hi Violet, I feel since it is a “healing” circle, it is not appropriate. for small children and/or children under 12.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
