I am an amateur filmmaker that just recently completed a rough cut of a film
featuring: Christopher Ryan of Sex at Dawn, Wendy-O-Matic, Deborah Anapol, Evalena Rose, Lori Grace Star, Carol Queen, Allena Gabosch, and Pamala Hagg, Kelly Rees, among others.
Basically the premise of the these interviews is that monogamy and marriage is a construct that was developed by the elite mainly for reasons of property but it serves to keep people isolated and separated (perhaps not intentionally) into little boxes consuming material goods which incidentally helps the elite consolidate their economic power. Only recently have things like polyamory, which is mostly a women led movement, have challenged the status quo and where love displaces the constant need for consumption. (At this point in time, I don't think everyone's going to rush to join communes and share things so I don't think polyamory is a threat to our economic system.)
I hope this movie will give people a reason to question monogamy because many don't...I didn't for years even though it didn't quite fit for me...and to help people think about new ways of being in community and expanding loving relationships.
I humbly ask for your help in two areas. Help with my next project and help with getting this movie seen.
1) My next project is putting a public face on Polyamory...
I want to focus on why and how people started. What prompted you to choose this lifestyle? What obstacles did you overcome? What is your story? How did you open up to friends and family? I think as more and more people consider polyamory, it is important to get stories out there with real faces. I recently opened up myself to the outside world and while challenging it has been liberating as well.
I would be willing to come to you with interviews generally lasting 30 minutes to one hour.
2) Help in getting my current movie seen.
I live in Portland, Oregon but will be traveling in the SF Bay Area from June 30 - July 12 and Seattle in September. I am looking to show my movie at home viewings or small venues with a projector. I have done small viewings in Portland and I have used the opportunity to connect community. I've taken classes and attended events given by Morehouse, OneTaste, Loving More, Celebrations of Love and Evalena Rose and use that knowledge to generate discussion and connection. We mostly have a fun time getting to know each other and most people say the movie has opened their eyes as well.
One other way to see the movie is on-line. I am charging for the movie to try to re-coup the cost of making it but more importantly raising funds to keep me going. The movie is nice to see with a group and I am asking $10.00 if you see it with a group. If you see it alone or with another I am asking for $5.00. The way to get it for $5.00 is to put freelove in the discount code box. I know that's a lot considering the price of netflix but I feel this is a specialty movie that you are not going to get anywhere else and you will be supporting pro-polyamory movie making.
Thank you for reading and if you are willing to be interviewed for my next polyamory film and/or willing to host a small house viewing of my current release please do not hesitate contacting me.
