Final Update for Polyamorous Summer Solstice Party: June 23: Berkeley, CA

From: Dave D.

This is (probably) the final update on the Polyamorous Summer Solstice Party, happening in Berkeley, June 23, FRIDAY evening, 7 PM- 10:30 PM.

We are now overquota for single males, but we still have room for single females, couples, triads, quadrapedalisms, penthalons, menage a hexagonias, septugents, "full houses," straits, royal flushes, yatzees, inflagranontes, googleplexes, and all other configurations.

We have confirmation on at least one of our male exotic erotic dancers, (and possibly two of them).

We also have NOW received final confirmation that our professional Female exotic-erotic dancer WILL be here, and WILL be doing the infamous "dance of the seven viels," which includes the eventual removal of ALL seven veils, (including veils #5, #6, and #7). (Although we have accumulated a collection of five veils of the appropriate traditional colors, we are still missing a traditional PINK viel (#3) and a classical bright GREEN veil (#4). We can probably scare these up somewhere between now and Saturday, but if anyone's got one or both they could donate to the cause, we'd appreciate it.

(The dance of the seven veils was, according to SOME traditions, the scandalously erotic dance performed by Princess Salome in Jerusalem about 32 AD before King Herod, which resulted in John the Baptist loosing his head. The celebration/commemoration of St John's life, career, and unfortuate demise has historically happened on the Summer Solstice, thus the association of this dance with Summer Solstice. However, it is also alleged that the dance of the seven veils has much more ancient roots, being associated with the great and highly non-monogamous goddess of love, feminine beauty and unrestrained female sexuality, Venus/Aphrodite, aka Astarte, Innana, etc. It is thus also very appropriate for a polyamorous celebration, expecially one happening on the Summer Solstice). Always eager to make common cause with our Christian Brethern, famous for their unflagging support of universal, non-possessive love, this is our annual attempt to appease them with a ceremony with a good solid Christian theme. We hope they will appreciate the gesture).

We have sufficient Bluestar flowers for the Kireseth/Summer Solstice ceremony, and plenty more seems to be blooming in the yard in case we need extra. (These blue-star flowers/Kireseth flowers are alleged to possess aphrodisiac properties of a particularly polyamorous nature when dissolved in a small quantity of wine, and/or when the pollen is inhaled directly). We shall be conducting a highly scientific test of these claims at this event. Participation is on a strictly voluntary basis).

The traditional Summer Solstice Cake is still under construction - not yet completed, but should be ready by Saturday night.

We still do not have sufficient commitments from people to tend the bonfire in the backyard, so unless we get them fairly soon, we shall have to cancel that part of this circus.

The structured "puppy pile" still scheduled for 10:15 PM

WHAT FOLLOWS IS THE PREVIOUS UPDATE ON THIS SAME EVENT:
********************************************************

This is an update on the Polyamorous Summer Solstice Party, happening in
Berkeley, CA, on June 23. Saturday, 7 PM - 10:30 PM.

Summer Solstice is the longest and brightest day of the year - an excellent
excuse to celebrate with unbridled joy and exuberance, of transcending all
socially-imposed and self-imposed limits, and actually DOING some of those
things you always wanted to do, but never quite had the guts to follow through
on!! What a perfect time for a polyamorous party, yeah?

SO...

We have quasi-offical confirmation for our female erotic exotic dancer to do
the "dance of the seven veils," - going all the way down to removing sixth AND
seventh veil, but it is not absolutely confirmed yet. (ANYONE OUT THERE GOT
SOME APPROPRIATE MIDDLE-EASTERN BELLY DANCE MUSIC FOR THIS?)

We do have confirmation from two of our MALE exotic-erotic dancers, so odds are
good we'll get at least one of them to show.

Still hoping to do the bonfire, but still not sufficient committment of people
to tend the fire vigilently during the events, so..., we'll see.

We have harvested sufficient stock of borage/kireseth flower to do the
blue-star flower ritual, so that's go.

The offical Summer Solstice cake is also under construction.

So...the party seems to be shaping up well!

What follows is the eariler, NON-updated announcement for the party
********************************************************************

This is the first announcement for the POLYAMOROUS SUMMER SOLSTICE PARTY, which
is happening JUNE 23: SATURDAY EVENING, BERKELEY (CALIFORNIA)

Party will be happening from 7:00 PM til 10:30 PM

Directions and location will be emailed to those who RVSP:

RSVP to [address removed]

THIS WILL NOT (REPEAT, NOT) BE A G-RATED PARTY.

This does not necessarily mean it will degenerate into a wild orgy,
but simply that a G-rating is not guaranteed after 8:30 PM.

We will have to limit the number of single males at this event. This does not
mean that no single males will be allowed, only that we will be limiting the
number. Priority will be given to those who attend in the company of one or more
females, with single males permitted on a
space-available basis.

We plan to have at least one male erotic-exotic dancer and one female
exotic- erotic dancer dancer.

Because this is Summer Solstice, we are planning to have a female exotic
dancer do the traditional "DANCE of the Seven VEILS." We are still working on
this. Our usual candidate for this job is unavailable this year, so we need find
another. Problem is that most of the usual exotic erotic female dancers we rely
on are not confident that their techincal prowess is up to snuff for such a
formal performance. Conversely, most of the dancers we know who possess the
technical skill to do the Dance of the Seven Veils are fine with removing the
first five veils, but are somewhat torqued about removing #6 and #7. But here at
the Church of the Ever Lovin' Mind, we are nothing if not sticklers for
authenticity, so the search continues...

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

PARTY GOES FROM 7:00 PM TO 10:30 PM.

(Note we are officially ending at 10:30 PM. Permission to stay after
10:30 PM will be selectively granted on a invitation-only basis).

Since this is Summer Solstice, we plan to have a bonfire in the
backyard, (such as it is). However, to do this we need to have st least one
person tending that fire the entire time. Ideally this is someone with a MA
degree in Fire safety or several years' employment with a local fire
departement. However, in practice, we'll settle for anyone whose ever been in
the Boy Scouts, been to "Burning Man" two years running, or can at least roast a
hot dog without torching their own shorthairs.(Okay to work in tandem, as long
as at least one person is out there at all times).

At about 8:30 PM, we plan to have a brief "Kireseth-flower/Borage"
ceremony intended to test the claims that this (entirely legal and
safe) flower has aphrodisiac properties especially attuned to
polyamorous purposes.

WE SHALL CONTINUE TO BE SYSTEMATIC ABOUT THE "PUPPY PILE/ SNUGGLE
PARTY" THE WOMEN SET THE LIMITS AND THE RULES. The
procedure is still evolving, but it has been working pretty well in
recent months, so we'll keep at it. Plan is to do this starting about 10:15 PM
or
so.
