Dinner at Kirin Chinese restaurant

  • Aug 26, 2010 · 7:00 PM

Hi fellow plant munchers, Our dinner at Green Papaya in Berkeley was fun. This month, I was again hoping to bring our group to Saturn, the new veg*n diner in Downtown Berkeley, and although I enjoyed my burger and fries the other day, they have few vegan options. So I want to talk to the manager, who's reportedly working to add more vegan menu items, before scheduling a meetup there. At the recommendation of a fellow meetup member, this month we'll try Kirin, which serves northern Chinese cuisine. It's on Solano Avenue in Berkeley (cross street, Ensenada). It's a mixed restaurant, but they have several vegan options, a few of which are spicy for those interested in that kind of thing. Note that we're meeting on a
Thursday night. We've met on Friday nights lately, but restaurants tend to be busy and noisy on Fridays, so let's see if meeting on a Thursday night helps. As always, please be considerate of your fellow plant eaters and RSVP yes only if you have every reason to believe you will be able to make it. And thanks to those who change their RSVPs well in advance so people on the waiting list can make plans to attend. I pay Meetup $180 per year to organize this group. Of course, that doesn't include my time. If people chip in a couple bucks at dinner, it will reimburse me. You can do it here on the website or in person (please remember) at the event. It's in addition to dinner and much appreciated. Thanks a bunch! See you at dinner, John

It was hard to communicate with everyone; we were all spread out over a large table, and the accoustics of the restaurant were not conducive to conversation.

It was nice to see John again and hear about his adventures in art and housing, but the food was nothing special. I find I have trouble connecting with people at the two dinners I have been to. It is rather comical. If people want to just eat why meet-up with others to do it? I think I will be sticking with activity groups from now on.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
