Dinner at No Worries - vegan Filipino

Hi fellow plant eater, I hope this email finds you well. As I mentioned last month, a new vegan Filipino restaurant was set to open in Downtown Oakland. Well, it's open!
No Worries is on Franklin at 14th St., just a block from Golden Lotus. The menu looks really good, and since everything's vegan, we can order anything! I've never had Filipino food before, but I'm really looking forward to it. I think a lot of us will have a hard time deciding what to order--it all looks yummy. I went in there today to make our reservation, and they actually moved their grand opening event to accommodate us. Remember that to ensure everyone's comfort, all food ordered whenever we eat together must be vegan. As always, please be considerate of your fellow plant eaters and RSVP yes only if you have every reason to believe you will be able to make it. And thanks to those who change their RSVPs well in advance so people on the waiting list can make plans to attend. I pay Meetup $180 per year to organize this group. That doesn't include my time and energy in making reservations, answering emails, and such. Please chip in a couple bucks to reimburse me. It's in addition to your meal and much appreciated. You can do it here on the website or in person at the event (please remember). Thanks a bunch. I'm looking forward to seeing you (and eating!) at No Worries. John P.S. If you're bringing guests, please put their names in the comments so I can make name tags for them. Thanks!

Members seemed to like the food. The Menudo was good. It was noisy, and I was hoarse the next day, but lots of restaurants are noisy on Friday nights. Afterward, they said others had suggested making it quieter, so maybe it'll be quieter next time.

I had a very fun time and thought the food variety was broad - something for everyone, all of it delicious! Great group! Glad the money thing worked out..

The restaurant itself isn't large, and there were thirty of us. Conversations with the people immediately around us were possible, but the acoustics forced everyone to talk loudly in order to be heard. Since it's a new restaurant, there was a limited selection of beverages (only different flavors of Hansen's sodas or green tea for those who ingest caffeine). At present, the restaurant does not yet have a dessert menu. (If they want to be successful, they should progress beyond "not yet" -- I'd love to try some vegan Filipino desserts!)

Nicholas (and others): Thank you for helping out. It turns out a couple people's meals hadn't been paid for yet, and once that money was included, it turned out to be enough. Once that became clear, I refunded any extra money that people had paid who were still around.

I'm happy that, with all these dinners we've done, almost always, enough--and often extra--money is collected. That speaks well of our group.

It was really fun! A little noisy, but that's too be expected with a whole bunch of people talking at once. The food was excellent and the company was too; I always enjoy meeting interesting new people.

I had a great time and a great meal. This was my first meetup with the group and I'm very excited for my second!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
