Hi, I'm a Wikipedia Regional Ambassador for California and Hawaii! Great to hear you're starting this meetup group, do you know of the Wikipedia Club at Berkeley? http://en.wikiped...
Participated in the US Public Policy Initiative as a Berkeley course Facilitator in fall 2010 and as a campus ambassador in spring 2011. I am now a regional ambassador and the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, which is expanding to support Wikipedia use for teaching and learning of all kinds (not just Public Policy).
I think this is a great idea to get Wikipedians and interested folks in the area to come together. I would especially love it if this group collaborated with the Wikipedia Club at Berkeley and tried to bring students in (especially those participating in a Wikipedia-editing course on campus).
Matt--Let's meet! we have alot in common...love to talk.
I'm not clear on what your Digital Citizen group is about. I don't see much content on the meetup page.
I'm planning to start a blog, and more, to focus on the issue of climate change with the theme that people need to wake up and grapple with the impending damage to the environment, and to tune out from all of the nonsense broadcast on the media to benefit those who would pretend these issues are not grave.
Is this up DC's alley? If so, tell me more.
Can't get in. Call me at [masked]
Welcome, Matt! Absolutely, I'd love to collaborate with the UCB club! We can definitely cross-pollinate the groups, this Meetup targeting a more general audience and the club naturally more aligned to students and campus life, neither being exclusive.
Do encourage nearby newbies to attend this Introduction talk. It will be informational and aimed at just-curious folks, not a hands-on workshop.
What is the Wikipedia Club planning currently?
