Most people who like to discuss philosophy are surrounded most of the time by people who don't like to discuss philosophy. Join this group to meet other people who may agree or disagree with your philosophical positions, but they at least have something to say and are even willing to listen to you.
Peter, I was aware of my undepicted nature, but only with your mention of it was I embarrassed enough to change it ;) I meant to picture myself holding my "You cannot cross the same river twice" tattoo design, but after a regal struggle with Facebook, it seems I'm stuck with the "Time and chance happens to all, but does God play dice" logo instead.
As for the cartoon, that's the condition I used to impose on myself, with mixed results. The parents were continually talking me out of it.
Thank you for posting all these articles in conjunction with the upcoming Philosophy Talk on 4/24, Peter. That was very thoughtful of you! I also posted an article from "Nature" entitled "Are languages shaped by culture or cognition?" on the Berkeley Philosophy Reading Group Web site. Valerie
Wow thanks for that attention paper reference
Hello Peter -
As you can imagine, we're well aware of the concerns. I hope we can assuage them over time... FWIW, Scott is actively involved and talking with organizers. Please note that the organizer can still set the overall format of the Meetup.
Hey, Peter, thanks for giving me the heads up about the CA Cognitive Science Conference at UCB. I really enjoyed it, and it was well organized. Vargas' talk didn't live up to its title, but he would have been amused at how we conducted the second meeting; we have a nice chat before the panel discussion.
