Somehow in our effort to put aside novels set in or about Berlin for the time being, we ended up with a novel that really couldn't be more relevant to life in this city.
This month's book club choice by popular vote is Jack Kerouac's On the Road.
Perhaps equally appealing to Kerouac's prose in On the Road is the intense aura surrounding this novel. The "scroll" it was written on, the political backdrop, and the beat generation. All set ablaze by the story of a road trip that's relevant to all ages and generations.
Here's a link for it on Amazon and you can also pick it up at Dussmann on Friederichstrasse: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B0086OM0GY
Our last meeting took place at Löwenbräu in Gendermanmarkt. What does everyone think, change it up? We'll open up the comment floor for suggestions keeping in mind that the location should be somewhere where the bunch of us can have our own space and hear each other relatively well.
See you all in a couple of weeks!
