Hi Guys,

Due to the last blind tasting ending up with 50% Tempranillo, we're going to have a temporary ban on Spanish wines (but not on Spanish people, you're very welcome to join of course!)

As before, I'll be charging a 2 Euro cover charge to cover the cost of the Meetup charges and the snacks. To save me emailing everyone separately I have included details below... just a note, please let me know if you're bringing a friend and maximum 1 guest per person, so that I can plan ahead.

As previously mentioned, I have a very selfish interest in organising these tastings in the fact that I need to improve my blind tasting of classic wine styles to get through the Master Sommelier exams (which I continue to fail...). The sort of wines that will probably be used in the exam are as follows, so if you can pick a bottle to bring from this list, that would be great:

France: Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Gris or Riesling from Alsace

Any Red Bordeaux, or White or Red Burgundy e.g. (Chablis, Pouilly Fuisse, Monthelie, Nuits St Georges)

White or Red wine from the Loire, (Sancerre, Pouilly Fume, Vouvray, Muscadet, Chinon, Bourgeil)

Rhone Reds (Chateauneuf du Pape, Crozes Hermitage)

Classic Italian (Chianti Classico, Barolo, Brunello, Pinot Grigio, Soave, Valpolicella (inc. Amarone)

Portugal (Douro Valley, Vinho Verde)

Germany (Riesling from Mosel, Rheingau or Pfalz or Spaetburgunder from Baden or Pfalz)

Austria (Riesling, Gruner Veltliner)

California (Cabernet, Pinot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay)

Australia (Chardonnay, Cabernet, Shiraz, Semillon/Sauvignon blends)

New Zealand (Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc) Chile (Sauvignon, Cabernet, Carmenere)

South Africa (Pinotage, Cabernet ) Argentina (Malbec, Torrontes, Cabernet)

Sparkling (Champagne, Cava, Prossecco, Cremant, New World Traditional Method)

Sweet & Fortified (Sauternes, Tokay, Port, Sherry)

Again, the address for the tasting is Flottwellstrasse 2, Berlin.

Nearest Metro is Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park, exit and over the river, turn right at the car park and Flottwellstrasse is first left. You can contact me on +15150406039.

Name on the doorbell is Towler and I am on the 2nd floor, on the left out of the lift. 1 bottle per person please, don't forget to wrap the wine in tin foil so we can't see what it is and if it's white, try and bring it chilled.

Best,

Steve
