OPS! My sincerest apologies to whomever took a game from Kau. The slight was unintended. It must have been one of the three OTHER "Joe's," I think the caballero from Peru, if memory serves. (As for me, I was relieved to draw my game with Eli, the walk-on high school sophomore.) Would the slighted winner against the redoubtable Kau, please, fess up and take his bow? Otherwise, I stand by everything else ... and we can all be glad about the smile on Kau's face.
Best session yet! 4-6 boards playing continuously for about 3 hours. Included three kids 9-13 with[masked] ratings! And a couple of "grandpas," like your's truly. Top winner (again) was the misterious Kau, who wins her two games, and then gracefully bows out. Great fun, with several "walk-ons," from B&N cliental. Missing several regulars, like Lou, Brad and John, but at least two of them were at some rated tournament collecting national rating points.

I will be out of town on Sept. 2 but will try to attend the next meeting. I'm an intermediate level player and look forward to meeting and playing against other chess amateurs.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
