Deer Park Road, Columbia, MO
Going to try this one again.... now that hunting season is over
We will meet at the Turkey Creek Interpretive Natural Trail parking lot. (See Map above and the conservation map in the link below for directions)
This conservation area may prove to be a challenge. The brochure states a 3 mile interpretive trial and an 8 mile multi-use trail.
There are some bluff areas, lots of woods, creek crossings and creeks to walk. This will be Full day of exploring. (IE: no time limit)
Also plan to search for a couple of elusive Geocaches.
Pace: Slow to moderate.
Dress: for the weather. Layers recommended.
Waterproof hiking shoes, if you have them. Otherwise sturdy, comfy shoes. Trekking poles/hiking stick will be helpful for some of the rocky terrain and through the creeks.
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult, due to Bluffs, Creek Crossing and Creek Walking.
There may be ice in the creek and on the trail.
Depending on temps, the trail could be muddy.
We will probably stop to eat in Columbia after the hike.
