Bicycle Build-A-Thon

Become a part of something really special!
Pleasant Hill’s 9th Annual Community Service Day!

Bicycle Build-A-Thon

Description of Project
We take donated bicycles, tricycles, and/or scooters and refurbish them to be given to needy kids (mostly foster kids). Stations are set up to evaluate, repair, wash and test-ride bikes. we will also accept donated bikes at the park that morning. Please bring any tools, bike pumps, bike stands, old towels etc., or any other supplies. The whole family can help wash, change tires and test-ride, so bring helmets. Come help before or after soccer as well! Note that those wishing to donate bikes for this event can do so in advance by taking them to Officer Kelli Geis at the Pleasant Hill Police Department.

Gather at Pleasant Hill Park (beginning at 7:30 a.m.) to get your free Pancake Breakfast (served by the PH Lions Club) and your free T-Shirt. Don't forget to bring a can or two of non-perishable food for the food bank drive!

IMPORTANT NOTE! I'm not exactly sure where the event will be held in the park and city hall area this year.  The 10' x 20' black Ez-up and new BTCEB Ez-up tents as well as the Sports Chalet Ez-up should be visable from a distance.

Did anyone take pictures? I would love to be able to talk about this in the BTCEB e-newsletter and/or post on the Facebook page. Thanks!

What happens is there are bikes that can't be fixed ,we use the parts to fix other bikes. Bring tools, work stand ,lube pump.If you have stuff you want to donate ,bring it.

Is there a need for spare bike parts, like tires/tubes, grips, brake pads, cables, etc.? If so, what can we bring/buy?

If you have tools, please bring them. Also, the event will be over once the bikes that are salvageable have been fixed. That could be some time between 1 and 3.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend. Mary Gray and Chuck Davis are running the show this year.
