Missions Beginner Ride

Please join us for a morning ride beginning at the Blue Star and riding south towards the Historic San Antonio Missions and back. This is a BEGINNER RIDE meant for anyone who is new to cycling or who rides at a slower pace. This ride is approximately 18 miles and we will ride at a pace of about 9-13 mph. We will ride partially on the Riverwalk and mostly on the streets.  It is highly recommended to use a road bike, however, you are free to ride on any bike of your choosing. We will make stops to wait for fellow cyclists to catch up, rehydrate and take a bathroom break.

Wheels down at 10am. We will be parked at the Blue Star Complex and I will be in a green Chevy Traverse.  If you need to reach me for details or because you're running late text me at [masked].

After the ride, we can get together for lunch at a downtown eatery of the groups choice.

+++Self Supported Ride:  Please bring your own helmet, water bottles, snacks, sun screen,  a tube and pump.++++

Hope to see you there!!!

Slight incline, my butt! Loved it; working on getting better on 'slight inclines' in the near future!

I'm running extremely late. Don't wait on me. Hopefully I'll see you all somewhere along the route. I know the route well. I've ridden it many times.

I wound up with 25 miles. I had no idea that the trail was completed all the way to Mission Espada. Thanks you guys for motivating me to get out on the trail and get a good ride in. It's been about 3 weeks since I've ridden and this was exactly what I needed. :-)

I'd like to join you if the weather is close to decent. 2 Questions: I have a hybrid, not a road bike; is that OK? Are there many hills?

    December 27, 2013

    • Lucinda

No big hills but there are a couple of inclines along the river portion. If you know how to shift gears you'll be fine. If not I can show you. Yes a hybrid is fine.
