Introduction
I am a senior researcher at NICTA working in the Big Data group. Our focus is on building practical solutions for enterprise on top of the Hadoop technology stack.
What got you into Big Data?
We saw a growing demand from enterprise wanting to extract greater value from their data assets. So we turned our expertise in parallel processing and programming productivity frameworks to develop a new productivity language on top of Hadoop: Scoobi. We leverage NICTA's research expertise in Machine Learning and Data Mining to deliver solutions to enterprise on top of this technology stack.
What tools do you use?
Pretty much the whole Hadoop eco-system + Scoobi. Some R, and starting to use Tableau for visualization.
