Cascalog live demo by Stefan Hübner

Dear Datums,

For the #5 Big Data Beers, and after the introduction to Clojure we had in past events, we have Stefan Hübner (Senior Engineer at Nokia, co-founder of the Berlin Clojure Users Group) who is going to present us Cascalog.

Cascalog is a query language for Hadoop that sits atop of Clojure, created by Nathan Marz (well-known Big Data guru, about to release a book on "Big Data", also known for developing Storm and defining the concept of "lambda architecture").

In the talk we're going to see a live demo on how can be Cascalog applied to various datasets. After this introduction and demo, we'll have a better view on the usefulness of Cascalog and how to apply it for tackling Big Data problems.

And of course we will have free beers / drinks afterwards and plenty of time for networking.

This is happening at coUp, downstairs.

We hope to see you all there!

Great. Cascalog is so elegant, it rocks. I happened to write some map reduce code in these das and seeing how elegantly the same thing can be done is refreshing. I´m looking forward at seeing some unit testing on cascalog based projects !
