I couldn't make it in the end..
Natalie, is there going to be a video upload of the lecture?
(I took a peek at the slides - it's not enough..)

Thanks for coming, it was a pleasure to present to you and I hope you enjoyed it.

    The slides are here:

I'm also giving an intro to R which will have much more code (I'll present on an IDE) and much less linear algebra:

Some more linear algebra could have been nice, or perhaps another lecture more mathematical oriented? (Other than R)

I enjoyed the lecture very much and will be coming to the into to R as well.
    Thank you.

Hi Maor! I was meaning to write a little more. Basically I will talk about the math intuition and the algorithm for doing user-based CF and item-based CF, why use either, various common similarity metrics and their pros/cons, and the common benchmarks and evaluation metrics for CF. The talk is:
    (a) for beginners with little to no experience with CF and/or ML
    (b) Algorithmical/Mathematical and doesn't discuss specific tools

For the sake of this group I will try to expand on two more topics:
    - The underlying MR implementation of these algorithms in Mahout
    - Possible optimizations like location-sensitive hashing.

But we'll see if time allows discussing both of these.
