Document DBs (Mongo vs Raven vs Others)

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • How about a discussion of the features, usages, pros, cons of various document databases? I'm not qualified to lead this discussion but I'd definitely attend and participate, ask questions, and maybe bring cookies or something.

Would you guys like me to add this to the other group and plan on this for November 12th at IHC or 19th at OC Tanner?
We could also have a day time meeting at The Leonardo whenever works. Will is great and I think this would be a great conversation.

If there is still interest in document DBs, I'd be happy to facilitate bringing in a resource from Cloudant, a NoSQL database as a service, based on CouchDB. I just moved to SLC from Seattle, so am new to the group, and I look forward to joining a meetup soon.

Thanks for the idea, Will. It may be best to limit the comparison to document databases, graph databases, key-value stores or other type, for the sake of time. Alternatively, we could do an 'overview of NoSQL databases', talking about the pros and cons of each, and when to use them. Depends on what people want to hear about, and what kind of domain expertise our members have. So... Members... Anyone willing to talk about a NoSQL database (or all of them)?

That's helpful even if the voting system is a little funny. Nice to see general features listed side-by-side. Thank you.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
