The Hive Big Data Think Tank Internet of Things Meetup

Dear Data Bees,

Hive India Big Data Think Tank in partnership with Intel Corporation bring to you a unique event to meet some of our brightest minds who are shaping the Internet of Things world. Pervasive connectivity, smart devices and demand for data means that the Internet of Things is growing by leaps and bounds. Computing power is dropping in price, new sensors are being developed, and as people buy into IOT Technology, economies of scale lend themselves to the creation of even more data-centric businesses. Instrumentation and connecting devices has massive potential to deliver value, but companies need to think different and think fast about rolling out the next generation of self-reporting and intelligent devices, platforms and applications. Startups are finding niche solutions that complement the products which big giants like Cisco, Google, General Electric, Siemens, Bosch, Microsoft, and so on have envisioned and created. Come hear how three bold and inventive thinkers are re-imagining the world of IOT in the Silicon Valley and in India.

The event will start at 10 am on August 9th 2014 and end at 1 pm after which lunch will be served. Entry to the event is FREE and exclusively by invite only. Come join us!

Given below are the profiles of our three star speakers who will tell us their story.

1)  Mohan Reddy is Chief Architect at The Hive designing next generation data platforms. For over 19 years, Mohan has worked at multiple companies including IBM, Schlumberger, Travelocity and Zynga where he architected and built platforms to scale to millions of users. He specializes in Machine Learning and building Scalable systems. He takes keen interest in AI and Robotics and when not working spends his time between family and building robots.

Hive Data builds companies by focusing on the massive opportunity in Big Data. We incubate, fund and launch data-driven businesses; host events and projects with the community of data experts

2)  Derick Jose is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO) of M2M platforms at Flutura.

Previously Derick was the Vice President - Knowledge Services at Mindtree. He started the Knowledge Services division dealing with monetizing advanced analytical services with existing and new customers. He was responsible for capability creation and demand generation. Some of the key breakthroughs included winning the valuations process for a US based bank, building behavioural segmentation models for US based fleet provider, winning business from leading CPG vendor to operationalize an outlet recommender engine.

Flutura is a Big data analytics solutions company based out of Palo Alto (Development Centre in Bangalore) with a vision to transform operational outcomes by monetizing machine data. It does so by triangulating economic impactful signals from fragmented data pools. Flutura has recently been identified as one of the top 20 most promising Big Data start-ups across the globe by leading analyst magazine CIO Review.

Flutura is funded by India’s leading VC fund The Hive which primarily invests in big data companies worldwide.

3)  Ranjit Nair is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Altizon

Ranjit brings to Altizon 13+ years of software architecture and engineering experience in global technology firms. Most recently, he was an Engineering Manager at Amazon, leading the Vendor Payments team, responsible for a highly-scalable, business-critical system that pays Amazon’s vendors on time, with a high degree of accuracy. Previously, Ranjit had been a Principal Engineer/Architect at Bladelogic (acquired by BMC software) working on Bladelogic’s Server Management product line, specifically in the Patch Management and Virtualization Management space. Entrepreneurship is not new to Ranjit, having previously bootstrapped a company focused on Information Visualization and helping customers build User Interfaces that would represent large data-sets in a rather intuitive manner. Ranjit holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from University of Pune.

“Things” that would normally work in isolation are increasingly getting connected and developing intelligence. Altizon is a part of this revolution, offering a highly scalable platform for manufacturers to build intelligent connected devices and manage them from the cloud. Altizon is headquartered in Pune, India.
