Describe your interest in Big Data.

I'm particularly interested in how an abundance of comprehensive and cheap(ish), but often unstructured and messy data will impact the role of traditional statisticians like myself.

What would you like to learn from this group?

I'd love to learn more about how other companies and industries are applying data science / big data techniques and hopefully be able contribute some of my experience and expertise to the data science community.

Do you have suggestions on program formats or topics?

Not yet.

Are you interested in helping to organize? Or more interested in hanging in the back of the class...

Hanging back, for now.

Do you have connections in the Big Data industry you're open to approaching? (guest speakers, venue sponsorship, etc)

Not at the moment.

Introduction

Statistician in Capital One's Decision Sciences department since 2010. Most of my professional work has been creating decision and valuations models and test design for the credit card and retail lending businesses.
