The Big Dog

San Diego, CA

Organizer since:

January 27, 2012

The Big Dog Poker Room includes a small house fee as part of the buy-in to each game to offset the cost of providing this venue and meetup group. We are non-profit. Would you have any objection to a reasonable house fee?

The money will go towards poker supplies, food, and venue costs which all help make the Big Dog Poker Room so cool.

How would you rate your skill level?

Skill? I thought this game was all luck? Uh-Oh!

Finish this sentence: If I inadvertently see another players cards, I would............ What?

Let the player know, let the table know if appropriate. Always full disclosure at the poker table with that stuff. Poker karma is too important.

Which are you better at; laughing at yourself, or laughing at others?

Well, with the combination of 'I think I'm funny' and doing alot of pretty stupid stuff.........definitely myself.

Emotional responses are expected. Have you ever been guilty of a 'Phil Hellmuth' type meltdown?

Absolutely.......I scream at my TV when playing poker online. I don't know why? When playing live poker......"Win with Style, Lose with Grace"

Hi, I'm Roger. I am the group organizer. I have been playing poker for.....a long time. Still learning every day, I hope. Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult. A good poker game with friends sounds good to me.

What Roger is saying about this Meetup Group

We started on time? and had the usual fun. Last night saw 4 rebuy and 10 add ons, so the prize pool turned out to be a decent three way chop of $215. Some reminders of how brutal this game can be, when pocket dueces flop the boat (2-3-3) and A-3 flops three-of-a-kind, both players are quickly all in. When an A hits the turn, one player was out. He shook it off, and hung around to play in the cash game later. Denise, Alex and Uncle Dennis chopped the tournament, and the cash game had a couple different winners. We had it wrapped up by midnight, and look forward to Big Dog's next event: BIG DOG HEADS-UP TOURNAMENT / 16 PLAYER- SINGLE ELIMINATION
