This is a beginner course, if you were wondering how to start with Big Data and Hadoop this is actually a great place to start.

in this 2 hours session we will have Mihail and myself taking you through a quick hour of talking about Theoritical Hadoop Archeticture and a quick overview followed by another hour of practical installation and deployment.

Eventually the objectives out of this are as follows:

- Understand the basics behind Hadoop

- Have an Idea on how we install Hadoop

- Some tips and tricks for going forward.

Thanks

Ned

I honestly think its really good, it gave me an opportunity, to see how powerful Hadoop really is. I am really looking forward towards the next meet up. Even though so, the installation part is really boring as it only gave the running statistics at the end and etc not really showing anything being done.

Thank you for your feedback Jian. In the next meetups we will show different jobs running on top of Hadoop. Considering that this was our first meeting and due to time constrains the demo was targeted to cover the basics and provide information how to configure the cluster itself.

Before the event I tried installing hadoop using the docs - config was hard work and I gave up. Afterwards I tried this: http://blog.sequenceiq.com/blog... - pretty quickly I had some test data loaded and jobs running.

With all due respect, I dont think we needed the data scientist part. Also thought the installation part could have been a bit more real but it was not bad.

I actually found that segment quite entertaining. Sure it was fairly light on content but I didn't mind relaxing my brain and having a laugh
