Double Talk : Hive & Beyond PLUS Hadoop in Cloud

Double Talk is good as long as you have two Hadoop gurus doing it! Our post-summer BigDataCloud Guru meetups are kicking off with a great session where we have two gurus lined up for you.

Session 1:

Paul Baclace will talk about his experience of running Hadoop in the cloud. Paul has done extensive work in setting up hadoop clusters on Amazon EC2 and HP Cloud.

Session 2:

Pranab Ghosh will talk about some exciting work he is doing with HIVE and beyond.

Bio - Paul Baclace:

Paul Baclace (B.S. in C.S. from rpi.edu) started working on Nutch/Hadoop in 2005, contributed patches, and later helped AT&T interactive establish a Hadoop system for large scale data mining and machine learning.  At Euclid Elements he designed and implemented a scalable analytics pipeline for a sensor network that categorized activity using Cascading+Hadoop+AWS/EC2.  He recently founded MetaZeta.com which makes integrated Hadoop, Hive, and HBase clusters available on-demand.  MetaZeta has generated over 400 clusters for demonstrations, training, and testing.


Bio : Pranab Ghosh:

Pranab has 25+ years in the industry . He is a Graduate of MIT and UC. He has been a Big data consultant for the last few years and more recently as a consultant at Apple. He is a frequent blogger and owns several big data open source projects.
