I am new to Big data and would like to get into it.I want to know do I need to get into ETL and then later to big data ?Can the experts and others with experienced professionals please clarify below ?

- Currently working as DB2 - DBA on mainframe,have some basic knowledge on datawarehousing and modelling

1 Can I manage by preparing self study and some training ? Is it possible to adapt to this from mainframe technology ?

2 I have done some java certification- SCWCD way back in 2008 and have basic java knowledge

3 Which programming do I need to know - Python ?
